I saw a comment from a successful internet marketer this week that I think is very important to consistently remind yourself of.

Almost everybody we talk to about network marketing is an employee. They come from an employee mindset. Very few are actually business owners.

The employee mindset is: “OK. I really want to be successful on my own. I don’t want to have a boss. I want to make more money. What do I do?”

The employee mindset is NOT: “OK. I’m going to work this out for myself and come up with my own business plan.”

And the point this guy was making is, the most important word when you are talking to a prospect is “system.”

Let me repeat that. Heck, let me SCREAM that.

THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO A PROSPECT IS:

SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM!

You’ve got to give them a step-by-step system. They have to see a system that can work for them. You have to show them how it has worked for others, and you have to show them, step-by-step, exactly what they will do with it.

But it’s more than just that. Your prospect not only has the opportunity to use a system that is tested and proven to work, but they also have the opportunity to talk to their prospects about that tested, proven system – which every prospect needs and wants. It’s really important. That is exactly what this guy is talking about.

You need to hammer prospects about the system. I mean, REALLY hammer them on this. Most prospects think, “Oh, this company has a great product. That’s what I need.” Or, “Oh, I’m personally sponsored by the heavy hitter. That’s what I need.” Or, “It’s been proven that this compensation plan pays out 80%, and over 90% of the people who use it are successful.”

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

Most prospects need to use the Success In 10 Steps ebook to have success, but some won’t. Everybody knows that a new person needs a tested, proven system to start with. If you can find a better, tested proven system, fine. We’ve used this one for 4 years, and it constantly produces the targeted leads we want.

That’s what those with the “employee mindset” need more than anything – good prospects to talk to. Just getting a few really targeted prospects a week can change their lives.

System? Yes. Use it. And talk to your prospects about it. Believe me, they know they need it.

Early in “Success In 10 Steps“, you can read about “the monk in the white lab coat.” I don’t think it’s just the people I’ve talked to recently. I can definitely remember when I used to think this way.

There are just a LOT of people who believe that far and away THE #1 reason to choose a network marketing company is the product. And even after talking with them a bit, it is a very tough idea to dislodge.

M-L-M companies must have a great product to compete in today’s market. But it is effective marketing, not a product, that will either build an empire or not. Specifically, you should be searching for a group with an effective, results-producing marketing program in place. So it’s important to give prospects as much evidence as you possibly can that product focus is not what will build them a great income from home.

To have any hope for building a successful MLM business, they have to get this concept. If all they want is a great product, that’s fine. If they don’t care about the money, no problem. They can do whatever the heck they want to do.

But most people – and certainly most of the people your prospect will be talking to about the business – are looking to make money at it. And if you ask even this product-focused prospect, you can pretty much be 100% sure they’ll say, “Well, yeah – I want the money!”

And to do that, you’ve got to have those other 4 Pillars in place – not just the product. So page 14 is a very good place to point your prospect to, to make that point and get them headed in the right direction.

Read Success in 10 Steps and save years of failure and frustration in Network Marketing!

A lot of what determines success or failure is NOT the obvious stuff that you see and are concerned with.

Studies have shown that whether you’re talking to someone on the phone, or in person, their impression of you & what you say is based ONLY ABOUT 8% on the words you use!!

The other 92% is your body language and the sound & qualities of your voice. I’m sure it’s easy for you to understand that if you sound uncertain, no one is going to follow you. To be successful, you must sound and look like you know exactly what you are doing.

That is one of the reasons that this blog is so useful to you. The more time you spend learning about the intricacies of Success In 10 Steps, the more certainty you will have when you talk to a prospect. And as you study & gain the ability to direct them to a specific page that answers their question, you look to them like someone who really knows what they are doing.

And when they see you that way, it’s a big key to their desire to work with you.

This is something you just cannot afford to shortcut. So open a new text file. Read Success In 10 Steps again, and take notes by chapter. Write down what strikes you as really memorable, really useful, and note the page it’s on. Talk about it out loud. Tell what you really like. Again, write down your notes.

The better you get at this, the more confident you will sound when you speak with a prospect. When they can hear in your voice that you are certain you know what you’re talking about, you are in good shape.

Commitments
Tom Big Al Schreiter

Last year I told all of my subscribers that I would swim across the Mississippi River for my 60th birthday . . . but I procrastinated . . . and it got really cold.

But I believe in keeping commitments. Your downline and prospects will respect your leadership character if you keep your commitments to others, even when inconvenient.

So before my birthday this year, I attempted to swim across the Mississippi River, with the intention of being able to swim back again to where I started.

I was surprised that no one seemed concerned about my safety, the swift currents, the cold water, or potential oil slicks. Helps make one humble to realize that we are only a speck of existence in other people’s lives. So, let’s not be too self-absorbed and proud of our effect in this world.

Possibly the lack of interest in my athletic feat was that people didn’t think I could swim the width of the Mississippi. But I wanted to prove them wrong.

Here is some secret footage (it’s rough) of my attempt to swim the Mississippi River, the largest river in the United States.

Yeah, but can these puppies recruit?
by Tom Big Al Schreiter

Once upon a time there was a little boy. He decided to make his mark in life as an entrepreneur selling puppies. His dog just gave birth to six little puppies, so the little boy put the week-old puppies in a box and went door-to-door trying to sell his puppies.

After knocking at a door, a man answered and said, “What are you doing with the box of puppies?”

The little boy replied, “I’m selling these puppies. They are wonderful puppies.”

“What kind of puppies are they?” the man asked.

“These are Fortune 500 puppies. The best you can buy. They are only $2 each.”

The little boy was quite convincing. But the man replied, “No way am I buying those Fortune 500 puppies for $2 each. They don’t even have their eyes open yet.”

Two months later the man answered his door to find the same little boy attempting to sell the same puppies. The man said, “I see you are still trying to sell your puppies. They’ve grown quite a bit. How much would you charge me for the puppies?”

The little boy replied, “$200 each.”

“$200 each!” yelled the man. “These are the same puppies you tried to sell me two months ago. Why are they so expensive now?”

The boy answered, “Well, they are no longer Fortune 500 puppies. They are network marketing puppies because their eyes are open now.”

This Free Network Marketing Report is essential to your financial future!

Do you know what to look for and what questions to ask when looking for a network marketing company?

Do you ask yourself ”Which company should I join?”
If we are uneducated we tend to jump into the next best thing.
We base our decisions on hype instead of critical thinking.

Here are the 5 questions you have to ask yourself before you invest your valuable time and money into anything that looks pretty on the eye and sounds like music to your ears:

1. Does the company management have experience with integrity?
Do a Google search on the company owner, find out the company background.

You will be amazed at home many of these people have failed at previous business ventures and are lying to you about their results. Have any of these people been successful in network marketing or MLM. If the people running the company don’t have any training or experience in MLM or network marketing, how will they ever teach you to run the business and build your team?

2. How long has the company been in business?
Prelaunch ”opportunities” are popping up like mushrooms after rain. They are here today – gone tomorrow. The fact is that 95% of companies don’t make it after one year. Ask yourself ”Am I that big of a gambler?”
If your answer is ”no”, then look for a company that has been in business for at least 2 years.

3. Does the company have a remarkable product at a reasonable price? What’s the point in trying to sell something if you know that your competition has a much better price for a very similar product or service.
Ask yourself if YOU would buy that product if there was not an opportunity attached to it.

4. Does the compensation plan pay the part timer?
95% of your downline will be part timers. If they are not getting a decent check they will quit. You’ll be spending your time replacing people that won’t stay, instead of keeping the people that are already in.

Most companies pay five percent to the lowest distributors, fifteen percent to the middle ranking distributors, and thirty five percent to the top ranking distributors.  Use the compensation plan that takes the least amount of people to make the most amount of money.
Crunch the numbers.
Ask yourself ”How hard do I have to work and how hard the people I invite in have to work?

5. Does the company have a simple duplicatable system for building your business?
If the company ‘’system” is buying leads and/or make a list of friends and family run and run fast.
That is not a system, that’s spelling F-A-I-L-U-R-E.
The company should provide you with a system that is simple and duplicatable for the average person.

With that said I hope your search has narrowed down… a lot.

Remember to look for a business built on solid grounds not for a house of cards!

If you feel anxious about closing your prospects, maybe you can use this closing statement.

It’s polite.

It puts the decision on the prospect.

It’s easy to say.

Here it is. Simply say:

“So what would you like to do next?”

Giant “disconnect” in our brains -
by Tom Big Al Schreiter

The distributor complained:

“These leads are useless. I paid big money for these leads and when I call them, they all say they are not interested. Everyone!”

So I asked the distributor,

“When you talked to your relatives, what did they say?”

The distributor replied,

“All of my relatives said they weren’t interested.”

I continued,

“When you talked to your friends and co-workers, what did they say?”

The distributor replied,

“All of my friends and co-workers said they weren’t interested. That’s why I’m buying leads and looking for some hot prospects.”

Then I said,

“Let’s see. You talked to your relatives and they weren’t interested. You talked to your friends and they weren’t interested. You talked to your co-workers and they weren’t interested. You talked to leads and strangers and they weren’t interested. So what is the common denominator here?”

The distributor frowned and said,

“Looks like the common denominator here is me.”

Let’s review.

If our relatives, friends, co-workers and strangers all hate what we are saying, we don’t need new people to ruin. We need to change what we say.

So ask yourself,

“Exactly what do I say in the first few sentences?”

Write this down word-for-word.

I find that most distributors can’t write down word-for-word exactly what they say. Instead, they just babble whatever seems right at the time, whatever comes to mind.

How can we train and duplicate in our downline if we can’t write down, word-for-word, exactly what to say in the first few sentences?

Now, most distributors reading this will continue to stick their heads in the sand and avoid writing down these sentences. And this is where the giant disconnect occurs.

Because how often will we need these exact first sentences?

Every time!

It is not like this is going to sneak up on us. Every time we will have to start with some interesting first sentences.

So go ahead. Write down word-for-word the exact first sentences you want your downline to use when they talk to prospects.

It’s bizarre. Distributors spend hundreds of dollars on products, services, advertising, travel, promoting . . . just to get prospects . . . and not a single dime on learning what to say when they get them.

Question to Big Al Schreiter.

Dear Big Al,

As a network marketer, what are the first steps someone should take to get their business going?

I am with a company for about 2 1/2 months now and I have not sponsored one prospect.

The problem is that I don’t really go a lot of places to prospect. I mostly go to work, then home and then church (and I don’t want to prospect at church). I don’t have many friends. And I can’t afford leads, so that out of the question.

So what is a person to do? Please help!

I wrote back -

Hi Joe,

You want a business that pays over $10,000 a month. I understand.

There are two choices.

1. Purchase a business that pays you over $10,000 a month.

2. Create and build a business that pays you over $10,000 a month.

If you choose #2, then you will have to learn how to find prospects, learn how to enroll them, learn how to train and motivate them, and learn how to market products or services.

I don’t think you can learn all of these skills by simply reading one book, or surfing a few pages on the Internet. It will take time, money and energy to learn and master these skills.

Yes, people do earn more than $10,000 a month, but most of them provide more than $10,000 a month in value to their networking companies. We have to provide value to receive that much money in return. We are not providing value by staying home and not talking to anyone.

It is not a matter of choosing a company, sitting back and collecting. Most companies pay well if we provide enough value to them.

So, the real question to ask is:

“When am I going to learn the skills necessary to provide more than $10,000 a month in value for a business that will pay me?”

2.) Independent consultants will be charged $7 for every compensation check they receive. It is automatically deducted,  The web portal, costing $24.95 monthly, is optional for independent consultants.
Ed. Note: In general, web portals are considered sales tools and it is a NO-NO to pay commissions on them, so this must have been part of the clean up. The BBB’s advertising review inquiry is still pending.
